Gaza is proposed EU mission in Rafah

Germany, France and Britain have proposed the reactivation of a European Union mission on the border between Egypt and Gaza, to assist and stabilize the Palestinian enclave destroy one-month war with Israel, has announced a resource German diplomacy, on Wednesday, told Reuters.

The source said German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his counterparts in Paris and London, were in favor of returning to the EU operations in Rafah crossing point, which is the only window to the world for 1.8 million Palestinians of Gaza.

The ceasefire in Gaza is located on the second day, this Wednesday, while Egyptian mediators encourage talks between Israel and Palestinian envoys to give once and end the war, during which Israel bombed a good part of the territory dominated by Hamas Islamists.

The so-called Border Assistance Mission in Rafah EU began work in 2005, to monitor the checkpoint as part of the agreement reached between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, backed by the West. However, the operation was stopped two years later, when Hamas militants took control of the Gaza Strip.

Egypt has closed the border frequently over the past year, significantly increasing the pressure on the residents of Gaza, who also face a naval blockade imposed by Israel.

Egyptian diplomatic sources say, while Cairo also may consider easing restrictions on movement through Rafah, apparently it will not accept Hamas calls to allow a smooth flow of trade through this checkpoint.

Egypt insists that any discussion about representations Rafah bilateral deal with the Palestinian Authority, a political rival of Hamas, rather than as part of an agreement between the Palestinians and Israel to ease the Israeli blockade, sources say.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a press conference from Jerusalem, the long conflict with the Palestinians, which has conquered the Middle East.

In his speech, he said he felt bad about the numerous deaths among civilians. But he stressed that Hamas was he who led the fight, and it should feel responsible for human losses.

This conference was held after Israel and Hamas began talks in the presence of internationals. They discussed a new frontier to block the Gaza Strip.

Israel has said it wants Islamic militants to disarm Hamas, and Israel will feel safe.
