U.S. Secretary of State, John Kerry has urged Israel and the Palestinians to take advantage of the truce in Gaza and to extend talks.
Kerry told the BBC that the situation should be used to achieve a ceasefire resolution of the crisis between the two countries.
Gaza is being kept a 72-hour truce, which began Tuesday morning. Israel and Palestine have sent their delegations to Egypt to discuss the possibility of a long-term truce 4-week conflict, from which they have been killed more than 1,900 people.
Secretary said that the U.S. fully support Israel's right to defend itself.
"In no country can live normally in this situation and the United States supports Israel to protect its place in these circumstances. Hamas reacted in a shocking way and there was considerable damage as a result, "said Kerry.
Asked if he supports the Palestinians to remove the Israeli blockade on Gaza, he said that "the United States supports the Palestinians to live normally, to be able to complete their basic needs for living and open border crossings having a greater freedom. "
Kerry added that this situation needs to clarify the minds of the leaders of the two parties to reflect and arrive at a solution for the two countries.
During Tuesday's Israeli forces pulled out of Gaza and residents returned to their homes after the first 4-week conflict.
