Israel withdraws from Gaza

Israel announced the withdrawal of its troops in defensive positions outside the Gaza Strip.

Movement arrives a few hours after reaching a truce with Hamas 3-day-in-brokered Egyptian negotiators. The ceasefire came into effect at 08:00 local time, with our clock 07:00.

Israel says the main goal of the offensive a few days, that is the destruction of underground tunnels and Hamas's infrastructure was achieved.

4-week conflict has left behind at least 1,800 Palestinians killed, the majority civilians, and 67 Israelis, two of them civilians.

"The Israeli Defence Forces will be deployed in defensive positions outside the Gaza Strip and will retain these positions," said army spokesman Colonel Peter Lerner.

A few minutes before coming into force on 3-day truce in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv air raid sirens were heard announcing the rockets launched by Hamas's. Almost at the same time the Israeli side responded by taking several air strikes in Gaza.

Israeli offensive began on 8 July with the objective of destroying tunnels used by Palestinian militants to access and undertake attacks against the civilian population in Israel.

In conclusion, the objective is to reach the Israeli side. Destroyed 32 tunnels underground, destroying three thousand rockets and killed at least 900 "terrorists".
