One person was arrested on suspicion of false bomb threat, as military jets were ordered to escort a passenger aircraft at Manchester Airport.
Aircraft "Qatar Airways" was followed up by aircraft landing the Royal Air Force (RAF), following information received from its pilot. Manchester Police said he was treating the situation as a "total emergency".
Police also came armed inside the plane, which was launched from Doha to Manchester, and arrested a passenger on board. The man said that it was all a joke, but police announced that against him will be taken and the matter will be investigated.
All incoming flights or departures from the airport in question was suspended for about 25 minutes.
The plane involved in the "incident" was a "Airbus A330-30", which had 269 passengers and 13 crew members aboard the "Qatar Airways". He was accompanied by aircraft "Typhoon" Air Force in Lincolnshire.
Operations at the airport resumed shortly after the plane landed at the terminal and passengers emerged from that under normal procedures, said airport spokesman.
