WHO: Ebola, international emergency

The World Health Organization has declared the spread of Ebolës in West Africa as an international health emergency.

WHO officials said the potential consequences were "particularly serious" because of the ferocity of the virus.

The announcement came as experts gathered at a two-day emergency meeting in Switzerland. So far, 930 people have died from Ebola in West Africa this year.

United Nations Agency for Health said that its disclosure was an "unusual event".

"A coordinated international response is seen as essential to stop and to make international spread Ebolës unsuccessful," it said in a statement.

So far, the outbreak has affected his countries such as Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. WHO said that there will be a total ban on international travel or trade aspect.

However, states must be prepared to seize, investigate and manage cases of Ebola, especially at airports, it said.
