China readies for the big typhoon

Over 800 thousand people were evacuated from coastal areas in eastern China, as part of measures to precede a powerful Typhoon trip.

Typhoon "Chan-hom" is expected to deploy in the south of Shanghai later Saturday. On the eve of his arrival, the winds blew at a speed of 187 kilometers per hour, while 400 flights were canceled.

The same storm took the lives of 5 people earlier this week in the Philippines, while Taiwan and Japan also touched by uprooted trees and many people injured.

Chinese Meteorological Institute warned that "Chan-hom" may be the worst storm to hit the region since 1949.

Typhoon forecast to initially deploy in Zhejiang province, near the port city Ningbo, before moving to Shanghai.

The BBC's envoy in Shanghai says the city has already begun to feel the arrival of the storm, with strong winds and heavy rains.

Zhejiang locality authorities have called on port 29 thousand fishing boats, because of the danger from the waves, according to news agency "Xinhua".

While Chinese television showed scenery included coastal regions of bad weather, on the eve of the arrival of the typhoon.
