An Italian artist Modigliani painting was sold at auction on Monday for 170 million dollars, the price of the second highest ever recorded for an artwork.
The work "Lying nude" was sold by Christie's auction house in New York a Chinese collector.
Pictures was not ever appear at auction. Its initial price was estimated around 100 million dollars. Record the highest value holds paintings of Picasso, "Women of Algiers", full of USD 179 million.
Many collectors competed for the work of Modigliani at auction Christie's, where he pulled the 33 other works.
Among them was the sculpture "Teresa" of Paul Gauguin and "nurse" of Roy Lichtenstein, which were sold respectively for 30 and 95 million dollars.
In total, sales generated in the auction amounted to 494 million dollars. But this was not good news for Christie's, since about 30 percent of other works were expected to be sold out of stock.
