US tries to stop the violence in Syria

SHBA përpiqet të ndalë dhunën në SiriThe United States indicated that they are working on several different initiatives to reduce the fighting in Syria and to reactivate the ceasefire.

The priority is to stop the bloodshed in Aleppo, where during the last week killed over 200 people. US urges Russia to put pressure on the Syrian government to stop bombing. But Moscow insists on Aleppo air strikes have targeted terrorist groups.

Earlier, US Secretary of State, John Kerry, dismissed claims that the Russian and Syrian air strikes in Aleppo made against Al Nusra Front is not part of the ceasefire. Kerry is currently in Geneva to discuss with the UN envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura, as well as the foreign ministers of Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

The US has expressed its deep concern about the worsening situation in Aleppo where Syrian government air strikes have not stopped. Kerry himself accused the government of President Bashar al-Assad that has exacerbated the conflict by targeting mostly civilians.

US officials said they were working to reduce tensions and they expressed confidence that soon there may be progress. According to them, to Russia diplomatic pressure is being exerted to stop violations of the Syrian regime, in particular indiscriminate attacks makes in Aleppo.

Also charged that the Syrian government does not allow the arrival of humanitarian aid to areas in need. The ceasefire in Syria came into force in February, but has since been violated already almost indefinitely and there, especially in Aleppo divided and surrounded.
