Pakistan will lift restrictions on mass gatherings at the mosque during the holy month of Ramadan, President Arif Alvi announced today.
Forgiveness will be maintained normally, but disciplinary measures will be strict to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The holy month of Ramadan will begin at sunset on April 23.
The decision was made after consultations between the president and local experts and religious leaders. Believers are required to wear masks, while police will be present to ensure social distancing.
As of Sunday, 7,993 people affected by Covid-19 had been confirmed in Pakistan, of whom 159 had died.
