Spanish police have arrested a former British rapper turned to Islamic State extremist Abdel Majed Abdel Bary, one of the most wanted militants in Europe, in an operation against terrorism on Tuesday.
British and other sources confirmed his identity hours after the Madrid national police agency said it had arrested an Egyptian citizen and two other men in an apartment in the southern Spanish town of Almeria, international media reported.
Originally from London's Maida Vale, Baryt was denied British citizenship because of his links to radical Islamic terrorist circles. He was once called one of the most important figures in ISIS, and had long since disappeared from the "scene." A source said he was handcuffed shortly after entering from Algeria to Spain, but that remains to be confirmed.
Spanish police have said they saw three masked men in an apartment, including one of the most wanted terrorists in Europe. Abdel Majed Abdel Bary, 29, is the son of Adel Abdel Bary, who has been convicted of planting bombs at the US embassy in Kenya and Tanzania, where 213 people have been killed.
The arrested terrorist sometimes posted a video with a severed head, while threatening the West with those images. There were suspicions that he might have been John Jihadist. The special thing about Bary is that he even performed as a rapper in London. During a short career as a rapper in London he was known as Lyricist Jinn and L Jinny, and he performed with a band called the Black Triangle.
