Gaza bombings kill 15 people

At least 15 people were killed and 200 others injured when a school managed by the UN and which served as a shelter in Gaza was bombed by Israeli attacks.

The news was announced Palestinian Ministry of Health. Hundreds of Palestinians were at the school in Beit Hanun, after they fled from areas affected by war.

This is the first time that a UN compound hit by the Israeli offensive against Hamas militants. In the last 16 days, over 725 Palestinians and 30 Israelis have been killed by the bloody conflict.

Israel launched its offensive on July 8, when it declared its objective to stop Hamas militants firing rockets from Gaza.

Earlier Thursday, the chief UN humanitarian affairs, Valerie Amos said that the establishment of a ceasefire is vital.

"We have over 118 thousand people who are housed in UN schools. People were left without food and water is a serious problem, "said Amos.

She also noted that 44 percent of Gaza's territorial area "stop passage" for Palestinians and also added that residents are in serious conditions sanitary.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Thursday it regrets any civilian deaths of Palestinians, but stressed that "these deaths are the responsibility of Hamas".
